Ginger Smith is a genetic genealogist who specializes in genealogical research in North Carolina and Virginia and using DNA testing to learn more about your family history. She holds a BS in Biology and an MLS in Library and Information Sciences. She has been doing family history research for several years and has extensive experience in North Carolina and Virginia records and is a DNA consultant to adoptees and people interested in using DNA to break down their brick walls or learn more about their family history. In addition to performing genealogy research and DNA consulting, she also lectures and gives workshops on various topics.

Ginger volunteers as the Secretary of the North Carolina Genealogical Society, administers two Y-DNA projects on FamilyTreeDNA, and administers a Facebook group for Godwin DNA cousins to share family history, photos, and DNA match results. She is active in the online DNA-Adoption listserve, answering questions about DNA testing and is a member of the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG).
